A lot of the angst about Jim has been that the Michigan era is somehow behind what he did at Stanford - sure the standards and talent are different at Michigan, but here is what he did at Stanford
4-8, 5-7, 8-5, 12-1 - 1-1 in bowls with the Andrew Luck Orange Bowl win being the BIG WIN
If Michigan were to win the Peach Bowl tomorrow, he would be 2-2 in bowls
10-3, 10-3, 8-5, 11-2
Many around here are treating tomorrow's game like it's nothing - that Orange Bowl in 2010 was also a meaningless game in the same sense, but both are NY6 bowls
Shea is NOT Andrew Luck but on the college level is quite close - Harbaugh had an experience o-line and a Luck was in year 3 in the system - Patterson will be year 2 in the system next year behind an experience line
No shame in saying "next year is the year" - he could be 39-13 if Michigan wins tomorrow - another 11-2 season next year, would put him at 50-15
The goals at Michigan are to beat rivals, win the B10 and win NC's, but winning games aren' such a bad thing either - as a side bar - putting a bunch of guys in the pros is fun too
