Forget how full the cupboard was.
Forget that he sort of lucked out in getting Rudock although he and Fisch deserve credit for his miraculous development.

The fact that Harbaugh could take our complete and total dumpster fire of a program and in a mere 21 games be 18-3 and ranked 3rd in today's CFP rankings is amazing.

In my opinion, Harbaugh and his staff of course deserve tons of credit but it remains of the reason we all know Nick Saban left MSU. You just can't compete with that.

I do also think it shows how incredibly powerful the UM name is from the standpoint of the two classes we was able to bring in during and barely following the dumpster fire days.

Only a handful of schools, with or without a guy like Harbaugh have that name to produce such an amazing turnaround. And we are fortunate to be one of them.

Hoke was 17-4 in his first 21 games and won the Sugar Bowl. I think he had less talent than Jim has. I am not saying Hoke is any where near Coach Harbaugh but lets string a few more seasons together like this one. Which I believe he will do.

Wrong, Hoke was 16-5 in his first 21, and the 2nd season would end with a 3-2 record, for a two year total of 19-7. By Hoke's 3rd season, the bottom fell out.

Harbaugh for the win.

Which coach gets a "great week of practice" out of his team? That's a big factor.

No way am I saying Hoke is better, all I am saying is he had a similiar record with less talent. Coach Harbaugh is in a different galaxy compared to Hoke. Am I wrong about the talent levels between the two coaches?

Well, you got Hoke's record wrong, so there's that.

Harbaugh will definitely have a better record after two years, and will be on the upswing. Hoke peaked in year one, and was extremely fortunate to finish 11-2 if you remember.

The "Hoke went 11-2 in his first year" meme was silly enough last year, but now it's downright laughable. I just don't see any comparison between the two coaches.

That's because there isn't. A lot of teams look they are world beaters in year one of a new coach. It's called "honeymooning" for a reason folks.
Look at Houston this season vs last. Not much talk about how Herman would tear it up in P5 coaching anymore. Go figure.

Meanwhile, this year Harbaugh makes it into top coaches discussion way more often than last year. Instead of regressing from last year, the team is actually better.

Harbaugh is worth every gd penny he is paid.

Hoke's team regressed every single year...and players kept getting worse. You could argue that had Denard not gotten hurt Hoke would have probably been 9-4 or 10-3 in his second season but the minute the Rich Rod recruits graduated, Hoke was toast.
JH's is 2 wins away from having a better record then Hoke and right now, this Michigan team is way better then last year's team and showing improvement.
Not even a comparison. With Hoke, his first year we could have easily been 9-4 instead of 11-2. His first 2 years he got some very luck breaks. JH had his share in Year 1 and then the unlucky MSU game but this team is cranking right now. Give Hoke the same talent that we have right now and I am willing to bet we would be 5-3 with losses to Wisconsin, Colorado and MSU.
