247 UW Mod Ruth Robbins opinion regarding David Long:

She posted this gem late last night.

1. Good Lord...climbing trees...sleepovers...what's next? Ring & run and prank calls? Can you imagine Bo Schembechler or Bear Bryant or Don James or Ara Parseghian doing this stuff? It's not like Michigan can't recruit on its own merits, they don't need this unseemly silliness out there representing their program.
2. Not a flame, but why is he elite? No national titles, no super bowls, I know he's a big time competitor but what got me was the snarky little comment to the 49er organization about reaping what they sow. I think he'd leave Michigan in the dust if he could get a job with the Bears. I agree with Scoop on this one.

But I don't see him as elite -- he's a competitor, no question, but he's a failure in the NFL and that burns him more than anything. Now Pete Carroll is elite -- he won national titles at USC and then a Superbowl and knocked Harbaugh and his 49ers out of the play offs twice.

Nick Saban is elite. Urban Meyer is elite. Let's be more selective about who we pass out that title to.

Haaa ... man, there's lots of Jack Hammered butt hurt out there, coast to coast!

Lets just be fair on this issue.

Harbaugh is quirky. Harbaugh is similar to a Pete Carroll who plays to the kid mindset. It's a necessary evil.

Look...Reality Man or Ruth are not 18 years old. Ever deal with an 18 year old? Most 18 year old boys are young and vibrant and can't relate to the mature adult world. NFL is a whole different game because most of these guys have families and they understand it's a business. In fact...a lot of the NFL guys probably are around 30 years old. It's a man's business. College is a boys/young man's business.

Harbaugh is selling young people. It's why a guy like Schembechler just go tired of recruiting. It's the nature of the business and why certain guys recruit well.

Lastly, if you don't think Harbaugh is elite then give him another few years. Just play the game. Harbaugh isn't elite and let him prove it to us :).

Michigan envy by Washington MOD's. Why do they care how we recruit. Doesn't matter if it was Hoke, Rodriguez, or now Harbaugh, we always out-recruit Washington! Harbaugh may be unorthodox, but he is extremely effective. Ask the players, those who count the most, if Harbaugh is elite. I suspect they would say a resounding YES!
