Right now there is no guarantee that this year's recruiting class will grow to 25, but it seems like the coaches think that it might. So here is my latest best guess for the 2016 class. It's pretty optimistic but I did my best to keep it realistic (e.g. I'd love to sign a WR like Eli Stove, Tre Nixon, or Steffon McKnight but they don't seem realistic so they aren't on the list). Obviously we won't sign all of these players, but I think he have a good shot with each one of them individually. Who do you guys think end up in this year's recruiting class?

  1. QB - Brandon Peters - (commitment) 4 star, #211 overall, #5 PQB
  2. RB - Matt Falcon - (commitment) 4 star, #13 RB
  3. RB/FB - Kingston Davis - (commitment) 3 star, NR
  4. WR - Ahmir Mitchell - 4 star, #50 overall, #8 WR
  5. WR - Brad Hawkins Jr. - 4 star, #162 overall, #33 WR
  6. WR - Dez Fitzpatrick - 3 star, #55 WR
  7. WR - Donald Stewart - 2 star, NR
  8. TE - Naseir Upshur - 4 star, #61 overall, #3 TE
  9. TE - Devin Asiasi - 4 star, #110 overall, #5 TE
  10. OL - Erik Swenson - (commitment) 4 star, #82 overall, #8 OT
  11. OL - Ben Bredeson - 4 star, #41 overall, #3 OT
  12. OL - Terrance Davis - 4 star, #124 overall, #5 OG
  13. OL - Michael Jordan - 4 star, #247 overall, #21 OT
  14. DE - Josh King - 4 star, #59 overall, #4 SDE
  15. DE - Ron Johnson - 4 star, #96 overall, #5 WDE
  16. DE - Xavier Kelly - 3 star, #17 SDE
  17. DE - Connor Murphy - 3 star, #17 WDE
  18. DT - Rashuan Gary - 5 star, #4 overall, #1 DT
  19. LB - Dele' Harding - (commitment) 4 star, #228 overall, #8 ILB
  20. LB - David Reese - (commitment) 3 star, #17 ILB
  21. LB - Caleb Kelly - 5 star, #12 overall, #2 OLB
  22. LB - Jonathan Jones - 3 star, #23 ILB
  23. CB - David Long - 4 star, #30 ATH
  24. CB - Korey Banks - NR
  25. S - Jordan Fuller - 4 star, #230 overall, #21 ATH
I think that's a class that would be very pretty solidly in the top 5 and address most of the team's needs. I'd still like a few more speed guys at the skill positions but Upshur and Asiasi could be difference makers at the TE spot and the offensive line class would really help with the run game.

There would be plenty of speed and skill on the defensive side of the ball. 4 DEs may seem like a lot, but we don't have much depth at the position. Adding 4 players would allow 2 to play right away and 2 to redshirt. Some folks might question having Josh King on this list, but he's visited a few times and has stated that he wants to stay in the midwest. He's not going to end his recruitment anytime soon and I think if we see a pretty significant turnaround Harbaugh and the staff could position themselves well to secure King's commitment. I'm also have a good feeling about Kelly. I can't tell you why, but I think he ends up in the class. He and Gary could join Peppers to form an elite defense in two seasons.
