I curious to get some other perspectives on this. I've heard coaches say they would rather have an assistant coach who is a great recruiter and mediocre coach rather than a mediocre recruiter who is a guru for his position.
I get there's got to be a balance but if a player has the drive to be great then they can make an OK coach look like a genius. But on the other side if a highly talented player doesn't have the desire to be great their talent will only get them so far.
Guys like Zordich and Warriner, who in my opinion should be retained, seem to get the most out of their players (we've seen improvement as the season went on) but seemed to be viewed as the weak links as far as recruiting goes. But a guy like Moore who is seen as a great recruiter can not seem to get Eubanks to want to block which is a key aspect for the TE position.
I could go on but I'm curious to get some other thoughts on this.
