Surprised at how many people are disappointed in getting a commitment. More surprised at how many seem to think they know more about the team's recruiting needs than the coaches. I would imagine they have a little more information and insight than the fan base.
Also disappointed to see some of the comments about the kid himself. This is a message board so if you want to question the use of scholarships, you have that right (but see first paragraph). It isn't fair though to say he isn't good enough or I watched his film and he is a wasted scholarship. I'd hate to imagine what any commitment would think about coming to Michigan when the fans are critical of him before he even gets on campus. This kid worked hard enough to earn a scholarship from John Beilein. He chose Michigan over a lot of other teams. Doesn't he deserve the chance to play before we judge him.
This isn't about trusting John Beilein or where someone thinks we have a position of need. It is about respecting a kid that just chose to represent the University of Michigan. A kid that may end up the next Frank Kaminsky as someone wrote in a different post or may be the next Ben Cronin and never play. Either way he is going to be a Wolverine. And if we learned anything in 2014-15 everybody in the program matters, including equipment managers.
Basketball doesn't tip off for several months. Maybe we should welcome this new Wolverine and celebrate the coaches win over the other teams involved in his recruitment and let this play out...let the dominoes fall so to speak.
