but I’m hoping expectations are in check for football and if yours aren't, you'd probably better consider getting them there.
Our spring buzz is that we play music now and have coaches who “know what’s it’s like” because they are young.
The kids speaking to the media are ones who have not accomplished much largely because there aren’t many on the roster that have.
If we're honest - this isn't a good outlook coming out of spring.
Our staff and player attrition the last three years has been ridiculous. A buddy ran some numbers of other programs and put empirical data to what I have suspected - we aren't like everyone else, we are losing kids at an alarming rate and is impacting our ability to put out a quality product.
Our line coaches don't have any track record to speak of and they aren't working with returning talent that is going to appear on pre-season lists.
Our quarterback situation coming in this spring looks as unimpressive on the talent/experience meter as any since the Threet/Sheridan years.
We have a rookie defensive coordinator doing ice breaking activities with staff members he hasn't worked with.
Jim may be able to turn this around, but he's starting from ground zero. Yes its inexcuseable that he is in year seven, but for the sake of our sanity, its best we acknowledge and accept where we are at right now.
It isn't good.
A pleasant suprise is the hope.
