Balas confidence level with Gary becoming even lower and lower has he will be taking a lot of visits. Tells me that while his mom loves UM he is likely not convinced. I still don't see us landing a player that is likely the best #1 in almost a decade. SEC schools pay players, etc - hard to compete for 5-starys when that is the case. I hope he comes to Michigan but my prediction right now is that he ends up at Alabama - of course!

Better chance with Harbaugh but I hear you loud and clear. People say all sorts of nice things but keep the hidden agenda publicly quiet.

You have to ask yourself this very simple question. Why does any kid and his family wait to the last minute....they love the attention. It's human nature. Also...if someone at the last minute offered me 250,000 under the table and my family had nothing...why not take it? Ethics? Are there still ethics in America?

Possible tax evasion? At the end of the day...it's hard to turn down free money when you are poor.

I'm going to root hard for Clemson to beat Bama.
Why? Ole Miss is the team that will pay the most for Gary. It happened with Laquon Treadwell. Ole Miss security treated Gary's mom horribly in The Grove but all of a sudden they're getting rave reviews from her?

He will sign at UM. Coaches know well ahead of February who is coming. They do not get surprised that morning. It is super rare that a kid flips without a staff knowing about it and especially this close.

Ole Miss,Bama, and LSU literally have a network of boosters and HS/7on7 coaches that target and buy recruits either through the player himself or a person in his family/entourage.

They operate independent of the coaching staff for the most part, but when Freeze got hired it really intensified and got a lot more brazen. He basically set the Ole Miss network up and it Ruffled a lot of feathers in the south.

im sure this stuff goes on at other places too, but I know for a fact on those 3 schools, the school I was working at back then had a pretty intense "bag men beef" between the 3 that lasted awhile.

Booster networks paying recruits goes on everywhere!!!! even at Michigan. People can say that their schools are clean but come on!!!! My school, North Carolina Chapel Hill is an excellent school and could easily fit within the Big 10 academically and look at us with the basketball program. What goes on at LSU, Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc is no different than what has gone on at other places. Look at the Fab 5 and Michigan!!! Also, look at IPTAY and Clemson!!!!!Football is the worse by far. Before Spurrier got out, he was arguing that paying players would stop this because they would not be so money desperate but that was a flawed argument. Pete Carroll always claimed that he had zero control over powerful boosters at USC. Yeah right! Pete knew nothing about Reggie Bush I am sure.

Didn't you also predict that we'd miss on Walker and Bush?

I did not - I predicted we miss on Bush but get Walker. I am reiterating a post Balas posted yesterday about his level of confidence. I am by no means an inside guy so what the heck do I know other then what I read.

Would expect no less from a gamecock fan.

Remember that recruiting is fluid. Unless it's less than 32 degrees farenheit.

How do you know this for a fact? What have you been smoking lately??

Because who the hell would want to live in Mississippi unless they were being paid well.
It does seem a little fishy when it's down to Ole Miss vs. UM. I'm sure there are a lot of factors for Gary & his Mom to consider ($ome of which we may never know about) but he & his Mom both seem to be pretty responsible & I'm not sure if they would (or would not ftm) be swayed by unethical/illegal shenanigans. It's a little puzzling to me why he is holding out until signing though & I'm sure JH is not happy nor comfortable with that either. However, I do think we get him as well as Ca CB David Long. Long seems like a bright kid with his head on straight too. Get these two plus another LB & this class is set & probably #1.

Go Blue!

If you were African American, wouldn't you want to play for this:

There is a lot of these guys in Michigan as well. Didn't Timothy McVeigh come from a good ole boy militia up in Michigan? Racism exists way beyond the stereotyped South and it comes from all colors of people unfortunately not just white guys driving a Ford pickup truck. I think good ole Farakkkan would agree with this. Ignorance will always persist so let's be a bit careful before we label all southerners as ignorant and racist. It is simply not true folks.

For sure, but the University of Michigan doesn't promote it with nickname, mascot, uniforms, and flags like they do at Mississippi ... that's a huge difference.

The Confederate flag has been out at Ole Miss for a long time now and a rebel can be a rebel of anything like our Patriots rebelled against the English. I know what you are saying but Ole Miss is a loooooooooong way from its past. Now for its football, I also believe that something as been off in Oxford because why all of a sudden would a kid want to go play at Ole Miss which was a mid tier SEC West program with Archie Manning being its poster boy. It all started with Ed Orgeron when he was in Oxford. I know that high school football is excellent in Mississippi but the majority of its top tier players go with Bama, Auburn, LSU. Ole Miss is reeling them in nationally so it poses a huge question mark. As for racism, it has become very shiek and loose to claim that someone is a racist in our society lately and especially the last few years even without a shred of evidence. This of course has been largely media and special interest groups driven and reeks of McCarthyism short of government hearings. Claiming that a person, group of people, or geographic area comprised of a group of people are proven racists is one hell of a charge I tell you. I choose to judge the individual for their character. Growing up in both Michigan and South Carolina I witnessed racism and ignorance in both places, however, I would never claim that all people in those states are ignorant and racist. That would make me ignorant to do such a thing. I love both places and have dear friends from each.

McVeigh was from New York.
