If Northwestern thumps Minn and Michigan beats Maryland, does Gameday come to AA with 2 teams likely ranked in the Top 20 at that point? I know Florida State & Miami play each other that weekend so that may be more appealing to some. Also, WVU & Oklahoma State battle might feature undefeated teams as may Cal vs Utah.

I would imagine if Michigan beats Maryland and Northwestern and MSU wins their next 2, Michigan/Michigan State becomes are pretty impressive matchup at that point. Would be great to see Gameday in AA sometime in October :) Better yet, Gameday in November would mean Michigan has done well and is playing OSU :)

Looking ahead to MSU week (October 17) ........ USC @ Notre Dame is the same day. As long as ND beats Clemson this week (and USC doesn't lose along the way), I think that is the GameDay choice that week.

Notre Dame has no other home games where GameDay would be a viable option, while Michigan still would have the home game vs. OSU.

Not sure I agree with you there.

#6 versus #15 (assuming USC rankings) or
#2 versus #14 (assuming Michigan climbs up if they beat NW in which case they will jump ahead of USC based on Stanford losing to NW)

I would say the later is way more appealing. Gameday is already going to Clemson this weekend and they try not to have the same team on Gameday multiple times so I can pretty much guarantee that Gameday will NOT be at Notre Dame.

Only other game that could be more appealing would be more appealing:
  • OSU versus Penn State (assuming PSU does not lose)
  • LSU & Florida if both are undefeated
I think the Harbaugh versus Dantonio adds a lot of appeal though.

We'll see ....... neither game is a bad choice. I don't really think the "try not to have the same team on Gameday multiple times" is a real thing: Alabama has already been on multiple times in 2015, and regardless of whether it's USC/ND or MSU/U-M on October 17, it will be a 2nd time for one of the teams (ND or MSU).

GameDay also went to Tuscaloosa twice in three weeks at the latter end of 2014, if we're talking about repeating at single sites.

Ole Miss @ Memphis would be a long shot --- a REAL long shot, but not inconceivable either --- for GameDay on October 17.

One thing working in favor of MSU @ Michigan is that there is no obvious choice for the week after (October 24). Utah @ USC is arguably the front-runner, alongside Texas A&M @ Ole Miss.

Utah does not play USC that weekend - Notre Dame plays USC that weekend. The reason they went to Bama twice in 3 weeks was:
  1. Two Top 5 teams first time around
  2. Rematch of perhaps the most amazing game this decade against Auburn
Notre Dame & USC have been pretty unremarkable the past few years so the luster is not that big and if Notre Dame loses, you can forget about Gameday there because it will be a matchup of two teams that are 5-1. Only reason I can see Michigan/MSU game not being a part of Gameday is because they likely want to cover MSU/OSU as well which would mean 3 different times Gameday will have covered MSU which also happened to Alabama last year.

Also, one week of the year Gameday goes to a Div 2 school I believe and right now the predictor has them using Week 7 as the week they go do that. Either way it will be fun.

And step all over NBC's toes? Not bloody likely.

FWIW, ESPN has done GameDay in South Bend 9 times since 1993 (they've done Michigan 11 times). All 9 of those were NBC games.

Shoot, if I'm NBC, I want GameDay there. Adds publicity for their game. Not like NBC is showing a college football pre-game show at 10 AM-12 PM where ESPN is cannibalizing ratings.

Anyway, just my prediction.
