Rensselaer came out and dominated the first five minutes with a strong forecheck, keeping Michigan bottled up in their own zone.

Lohan's goal seemed to deflate the Engineers and both Kile's and Nieves' goals were full value. Rensselaer again applied pressure late in the period.
