There are very few college players you look at that you just are in complete awe over because of their ability on the field and how easy they make the game look. I have only seen about a handful of these (been watching college football pretty religiously for over 20 years now). Here are a few and we are fortunate to witness one this year and next. My list of just crazy, freakish players that you loved to watch regardless of the teams they played for:
  • Charles Woodson
  • Vince Young
  • Reggie Bush
  • Jadaveon Clowney
  • Christian McCaffery
CC is so much fun to watch, that dude is insanely good regardless of the competition he faces. He has to to be the clear Heisman favorite next year and I am looking forward to catching some of his games here in the West Coast. If you have no stayed up to see Stanford play, do so just to watch him do his thing.

I finally saw McCaffrey play a couple of months ago...forget who they were playing. Some Pac-12 team and hadn't really watched the guy. After about 10 minutes I was like...dang...that guy is big time. Didn't take me too long to realize it :).

Guy is a version of Desmond Howard in college. Kid is legit and the best player I saw in football this year.

Barry Sanders would be on that list too...

I would add Bo Jackson to that list. Maybe Hugh Green, if you go back that far.

The fact that he didnt win the heisman this year is a sham.
How can a guy break BARRY FREAKING SANDERS record and not win the heisman? Especially when he has a personal connection to barry as he plays with sanders jr. Makes it a great story let alone great accomplishment.

Because of the Alabama love fest. When Mark Ingram won it in 2009 he rushed for 1,658 yards and 17 touchdowns. That same season Toby Gerhart rushed for 1,871 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns, and did it while playing one less game than Ingram.
The heisman doesn't go to the best player in college, it goes to the best player who happens to be playing in the national championship.

I can't disagree with you but there is also a huge disadvantage to West Coast teams because they are often not watched much by voters and Stanford plays a lot of night games in the West Coast which is too late in the East Coast. McCaffery truly deserved to be the winner - he is a special player.

I dont think its a west coast thing i agree more that its the best player on the best team. Its bs either way anyone that watched even 1 full stanford game knows mccaffery is for real.
