I have been contacted by one of our brethren who could use some help, here is how he explained the situation to me:
I’ve always wanted to help when fort members ask for help. About 6 years ago, I was able to help a friend provide a Christmas to her kids because she was in a bad situation, and I never thought that’s where I’d be. Minus the Christmas part. Just a bad situation.
"I'll get straight into the mess: My family is hurting right now. I have a decent-paying job, but I have 3 teenage stepkids and my wife fell on ice at work back in February. She screwed up her shoulder and Workman Comp has had her off work for the last 4 months. Well, her WC check is way less than what she usually makes, so all the burden is on me. It took a lot of adjusting, but here's the meat and potatoes. I travel for my job so I have a corporate card, one that is to be paid off every month after doing my expense report from my trips. But.... In the course of taking care of 5 of us, I've used my card a some to help out, but I obviously can't expense that. It turned into a vicious cycle, as I'd take money from my check and pay the part of the excess I put on the card, but then I couldn't afford to take care of my family (groceries, pay bills, etc), and would use my card again, thus having to pay from my check again.... I'm sure you see what I'm saying. Plus in the last 3 months, both of our cars have gone through major maintenance issues.
What I'm getting at is, in the worst corporate talk I could ever use, I need a bailout. someone to take care of my corporate card so that I can be able to end this vicious cycle and just use it for work trip expenses again. I have it all figured out now to take care of the kids on less money (as kids, they're not happy about that haha), and can easily budget this, I just can't get ahead on my card. It would be $2500. My car will be paid off in November, then I can make chunks of payments to pay it back."
