Like many of you, I am somewhat disappointed that thread view is now forever relegated to The Fort history books, given that it made it easier to follow individual back-and-forth conversations within long threads.
But there is an easy answer to keeping such one-on-one conversations alive... and that is the quote function. Fellas, if we don't all use it, no one is going to have any idea who is responding to who or about what in big threads.
So just use it, dang it! If you are responding to the original post in a thread, go ahead and skip using the quote function in that one case, and let everyone assume correctly that you were responding to the OP. If you are responding to any other person's post, use the quote function.
I know many of you have already been doing this for years, but plenty of thread view folks have not traditionally bothered to. So all of you who had not been doing so before: take the pledge now!
*Raises right hand* "I, wolverineluke, hereby pledge to use the quote function when posting each and every one of my responses in a thread that are not replies to the original post."
(P.S. It kind of seems like the post I am replying to has so far usually been automatically quoted in my posts in this new system, but not necessarily always. So I'm just hoping we can all be cognizant of this.)
