A chance to see Nebraska before UM faces them Christmas evening. For those on this site who place the Cornhuskers at the bottom of the conference, beware. Just last week some members on the Fort had Northwestern in that spot. I have seen Nebraska a few times thus far. They are a better team than last season. They are a different team than last season. This year they only have three returning players who had playing minutes last season. One is from Iceland, one from France. This year's Nebraska BB team has 8 transfers on the roster. Three who are getting the most minutes are transfers from Western Kentucky, Pittsburg and Tennessee. (All is fair in the T-Portal. Nebraska had a player transfer to North Carolina State and he is NCS leading scorer thus far this season.)
This season, the Cornhuskers are really pushing the pace, much like we saw Northwestern do against MSU. They have a freshman center at 6'10 but he doesn't get much playing time. The guards are getting the most minutes and do the most scoring. They have six guards who play the most minutes---22 to 29 minutes a game. They are 6'9, 6'9, 6'6 6'6, 6'4, 6' They have couple of forwards at 6'9" Good over all size.
They have three losses, but two of those losses were Georgia Tech and Creighton. Creighton is a legitimate Top Ten team and beat Nebraska soundly. From what I have seen, Nebraska plays hard, really runs the floor and tries to forces opponents to turn the ball over. Their 3 point shooting is streaky. I saw a game where they could not shoot a 3 and hit an ocean. I have seen a game where they could not miss. Thus far this season, they have scored a 100 plus twice. Watching play Wisconsin will give us a better information about them. At this moment, for UM, the concerns would be the personal mismatches at the guard position for the UM guards, can Dickinson run the floor and for how long. At this moment in time, both teams are inconsistent with their 3 point shooting.
Another interesting match up tonight is Purdue at Iowa.
