Can you honestly tell me that you saw 40 formations from us in the first half? I didn’t count them myself, but I certainly wasn’t confused about what was coming. I’ve already deleted the game off my DVR, so there won’t be a detailed review of blocking assignments, counters to earlier playcalling, etc., but suffice it to say that this offense is killing us in two ways. One, we are not even a mediocre offensive team that can even be serviceable to a dominating defense who will eventually wear down by the OSU game because we can’t keep the offense on the field. Two, we are not going to appeal to big time offensive recruits with this boring and antiquated offense. So we ran 40 formations, guess what, they weren’t fooled. I just watched Maryland’s 3-string QB make plays a week after getting the nod and he’d never played before. You’re telling me a 5th year senior with a full season starting under his belt and 3rd year in this “system” can’t make the throws and nobody can get open? Nobody can get separation? WTF!

College football is not Pro Football. I hate the National Check Down League, it is boring. I’ve seen MAC coaches with a 1/3rd of the talent we have put together a cohesive and explosive offense that puts a strain on the defenses they face by making them cover the entire field. We bunch everything up so that the defense can concentrate it’s firepower in one spot. Yes we went three wide at times and even some empty sets, but we couldn’t make plays. MSU threw a prayer up to a kid and we had perfect coverage and he went up and made a play. We run on 1st down, we run on 2nd down, and we throw an out route on 3rd and 8...rinse and repeat.

So a 3rd string QB with the last name that sounds like some off-brand German Schnapps can make things happen, but we can’t? I don’t know who is confused more by our 40 formations, us or them? It’s times we simplified the number of formations and have one person calling plays, putting a game plan together etc. Maybe we need less trips to Rome and less sportscenter clips and more focus on the product on the field insomuch as from it all things spring forth. Seems to me we had just as much time to put together a team as the rest of college football, yet we can’t get it going on offense.
