I just want you to know there is not a strong correlation between loses and teams committing penalties.
Michigan is currently 119th in penalty yards per game....not good right? I think we all can agree we would like to see the number of penalties decreased. However, of all the stats that you might think make differences in the outcome of games, penalties just seem to have less impact than I would have guessed.
Here is a list of eleven teams that rank between 110-128 in penalty yards per game, and they have a collective record of 33-8.
Alabama. (4-0) 110
MSU (2-1) 111
Ohio State. (4-0) 113
Va Tech. (2-1). 114
App St. (2-1) 115
Mich (3-1). 119
Wash St. (3-1). 121
Auburn. (2-1). 122
SDSU. (3-1). 123
Maryland. (3-1). 124
Cincinnati. (4-0). 128
