I encourage you to actually read the book "Foul Play." Just to be clear, Tim D was given a lighter sentence because according to the FBI, he passed all of the lie detector tests. Some of the stuff that he told them was: nba told refs to help big market teams, big market players, etc. The foreword of the book is written by the FBI agent who covered his case. Are you really going to believe David Stern, or are you going to trust the FBI? Clearly if you are the FBI you cannot go back and say "oh you you rigged this game I see you missed these calls," but when Donaghy passed all of the lie detectors it was enough proof for me(to go along with the laughable calls I see for myself on a daily basis).
It is a business, and the ratings for a 7 game series with Lebron in it are much more intriguing. Its not surprising that they would try to give favorable reffing to his teams(or other players/teams that draw big).
Bash on the refs for the missed call last night, but don't try to say that college is a worse product than the nba because of the officiating.
