1) Ulizio--If he starts at RT--have to feel great for the kid. As some may forget, Ulizio made a huge move a year ago and then came down with a bout of mono. Really set him back, so much so he basically started out fall camp with the 3rd group. However, he benefited for the new coaching staff structure of Frey being responsible for the OT's. This gave all the OT's much more individual attention and it allowed someone like Ulizio to move himself up the depth chart.
2) Also , keep in mind the new NCAA rules pertaining to the additional practices also helped. Just a week ago, Ulizio was taking some snaps at LT, then at RT where his initial practice he did not perform very well---including being beaten a couple of times by our DE's. In fact, all the players benefited from the additional week of practice.
3) The coaches used that additional week to make sure every player on the roster was given a chance to compete and therefore there should be very little controversy when it comes to the depth chart. There are a couple of positions groups--like TE and RB that it will be interesting to see how many snaps are given out---since the separation at those positions are almost impossible to determine.
4) To me the key to the game on Saturday is which team is successful in making the other team one dimensional. If Florida is able to establish any type of running game===this game is going to be tough. On the other hand, UM must be patient and continue the pursuit of running the ball---if not,--Florida is very capable of making life miserable for this young OL and our QB.
5) The most interesting take-aways from this fall camp.
The overall athleticism of this team--especially the younger players.
How this frosh group is physically ready to play.
Ross was the best frosh LB in camp.
Marshall finally decided he wants to contribute and should play.
Just how much better O'Korn has been
Mason is not only going to be a very good FB---but he can both catch and run the ball.
I hope Gentry gets to play because I think the more he plays and gains confidence --he becomes a tough player to defend.
I do think the OL will be much better over the course of the year---mainly due to the addition of Frey.
Just think Pep is HC material.
