45% completion for an average of 148 yards and .6 TDs per game. There are more than a few future pros on the defense we faced today and not many others on their schedule are going to go dan Marino on those guys either.

While I too am very disappointed in some of Speights passes, I am trying to keep a bit of perspective on today's performance. The most inexcusable pass all day today was not the second pick 6 (first one on Crawford IMO), it was missing Crawford on the game icing TD with 8 minutes or so to go.

The 4th quarter felt to me like last year all over again - inability to put the game out of reach in the 4th quarter against a quality opponent. Of course the quality of the opponent has something to do with that but when you get a chance to ice the game with a pass that most on this board could make you HAVE to make that pass. It was TOO easy.

I think this defense is better than last years - it's faster and more athletic and that is very clear. But you can't continue to leave it up to your defense and keep them on the field the entire 4th quarter - they'll eventually get burned.

Speight's numbers today looked like every other QB against Florida over the past several years, but you have to be able to take advantage of the gimmies.

But he also made some great plays and those were a huge part of winning today.

Should be a fun season, we're better than I expected and can now tune up the O for the next month.
