So I was informed last winter that my s/o would be the maid of honor in her best friend's wedding. Then I got word of the date: October 21. It was easy to see that this would be a night game and that I would be missing it. The most frustrating part about this is that the bride and groom (one of whom is an M grad) purport to be big Michigan fans. As far as I'm concerned, they should never be able to wear the Block M again and say that they support the football team.
This entire experience has not only caused extreme bitterness on my part, but it has led me to cast doubt on the tradition of weddings generally. Maybe we just shouldn't have them. No matter what, people will be inconvenienced by them. Might as well not have them at all.
Another terrible part about this is that there will be an expectation that I in some way involved at the reception by dancing and socializing. Not sure how that will even be possible. I think the only way I'm getting through Saturday is going to be with narcotics of some form. It will be difficult for me to ever take this couple seriously for the rest of my life.
