Why not have a guy like Peppers, your best athlete on the field, just in case.........or have Ruduck, who the moment isn't to big for, pooch kick that ball, especially if they don't have anyone back receiving the ball......

Shades of the App State ending here.......

Should have. Coaches should have called the last time out and gone over those possibilities. They failed by not doing so. Could have easily have been prevented with a deep back in the punting formation, I don't blame the punter at all, it's on the coaches.

Agree, to me it' no different than having your good hands players readying for an on-side kick....

and what were you going to do with Peppers. He's not a punter, area you referring to a situation like the Victory formation...now you've got 9 people blocking 11. They did the right thing...O'Neill has been great this year, a huge plus. He catches the ball clean and punts...game over. The snap was low, there was at least one other snap that was low/bounced back to the kid. He had 2 options, punt or fall on the ball...the coaches covered things, have no doubt that w/ Baxter/Harbaugh, they made the right decision...unfortunately, the execution was off.

I understand the Rudock "pooch" kick though I'm not sure if he has ever attempted this before...we had Griese do that all the time in '97. Our downfall in this game was our lack of offense/execution. MSU had a huge advantage w/ Cook and his receivers...the kid made some great throws and receivers made some great catches, though they dropped some key throws too.
