Looks like Sparty also headed for bottom tier finish in the Big 10 and maybe the NIT if they are lucky. Izzo basically stopped recruiting a couple of years ago, and it's starting to show.
Interesting to figure out what this means. Four or five Big Ten teams, including M, MSU, Nebraska, and Purdue, have lost to low level Div I teams like NJIT, Texas Southern, and Incarnate Word. I can't recall this happening before, or at least quite so often.
An obvious explanation: the conference is down this year, with no quality programs besides Wisconsin, so that fewer teams than in the past will make it to the NCAA tournament.
