will teach, be in other professions that don't require driving. For people first starting out on life's road driving a Semi (18 wheeler) is a great way to make money for a home or other investments.

If you have a DUI (no matter how long ago) you can't enter Canada driving a commercial vehicle. No restrictions regarding a personal vehicle.

Major truck firms will not hire potential commercial drivers if they have a DUI. Too much trucking business involves Canadian freight.

Don't take getting a DUI lightly. a potential career may be lost.

Was I acting like Smokey the Bear?

I was off-base, apparently, since several posters indicated that even if you were driving a personal car and they checked your drivers license and the DUI showed up - you couldn't enter Canada. Sorry for the mistake. If you are allowed to enter Canada as part of a truck carrying freight the mountainous portions of Canada slow you down considerably. You can't make very much money on a per mile basis and drive legally. It is much faster on InterState 80!
