First, please for the love of all that is holy stop suggesting Luke Fickell and Matt Campbell as options for head coaching candidates. One good season at Cincinnati(Butch Jones anyone)does not a Michigan coach candidate make. Campbell had consistently underperformed expectations at ISU and is more of the same as we currently employ. In my current state I’m not sure who to suggest, but I know these two are not even close to the answer, specifically fickell. Campbell is a lateral move at best.

This is an inexperienced and/or young team. The team we rolled out today on offense - Ronnie Bell and Hassan Haskins were the only ones with significant playing experience. Joe Milton made some first year starter mistakes today and it should be expected to have to deal with this. I was not a fan when Milton was named starter, but I think he MAY end up being special. On defense- Paye, Hutchinson, McGrone, and Ross are the only ones with significant playing time. I have to say I expected Gray to be ready for PT as he looked pretty decent last year. Green reminds me of Ambry Thomas when he first got PT. In position, but getting plays made on him. Long term, I think green is going to be really good. Right now it’s going to be boom or bust. Dax is a baller. The rest of the defense is basically a reflection of our inability to recruit/develop interior lineman. I don’t mind taking HS DEs with the intention of bulking them up to play inside(you can definitely hit on some talent that way), but you have to compliment that with some true beef on the inside.
This season is also a function of resetting some culture. There are definitely some guys that are getting some PT or just straight up starting as a result of solely being hard workers this year. I think JH got some high end natural talent here that weren’t the greatest teammates/workers. We are going to have to take some lumps with this reset but eventually the natural talent guys will see that they have to put in the work to see the field. There were a lot on this board that loved to call these guys out, but aren’t willing to take the lumps to change the culture. Unfortunately for us, the old adage of hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard is pretty much BS.
I’m too drunk to keep going with the at least we showed a little life in the second half stuff, but at least we aren’t losing 35-7 to Maryland, yet.
Again please stop with the Fickell crap. Dude is exactly at the level he needs to be.
