Lot's of talented freshmen, but we lost a ton of talent and experience with Chesson, Darboh and Butt. Speight and Butt had good chemistry, too. The one young receiver who seemed ready to play, Black, is out for the year. In addition to his talent as a receiver, he blocked. Might have even completed a fade route to Black. Sophs McDoom and Crawford have been less than expected. It's no coincidence that our most experienced guy, Perry, is our best. We have several pass catching TEs, Gentry, McKeon, Eubanks, Bunting, and they all play, along with Wheatley, but I wonder if dividing the reps up so much delays development. Also, it seems like Wheatley is in on run plays. Maybe defenses key on that.

DPJ oozes talent. He's a guy who could start getting it and be a difference maker. There was a play yesterday where he ran a go route and O'Korn quickly lobbed it out there for him. The DB was in oress coverage and made enough contact to slow him a step and pull down his left arm. It foiled the play, probably a TD if DPJ made the catch. Once he learns to use his size and strength better, he'll get to those throws.

As a group, our receivers do not seem to come back to the ball when the play breaks down. Given how much scrambling O'Korn has to do with our OL and RB protection, that is not acceptable.

We have a bunch of good pieces but the fit is not right yet.
