Was it a shock that we, the 14th ranked team, lost to the #12 team at their place, at night, in the first game of the season? We are a good team trying to put things together. We made some costly mistakes, most notably drive sustaining penalties on defense. We played well in the second half but couldn't get over the hump.
Some are pissed because they believed the hype. Pre-game, I saw crazy shit about crushing ND and running the table against one the toughest schedules in memory. If I bought that, I might be pissed about losing to lowly ND. That's not reality.
Ironically, we've developed that return to glory mindset. This is going to be a tough slog to get back to where we want to be. Harbaugh is not the quick fix that we hoped, and he has been snake bit in a couple of those losses to MSU and OSU.
The story of this season has yet to be written. I'll let it play out.
