about the nature of the game going forward? Does it mean that the game has become more national and that major powers are cut loose from their local recruiting bases? Does it mean that, say, Nebraska -- which has tradition, a commitment to football and the willingness to spend $$ -- may be able to compete at the highest level with the right coach?

Put another way, does this mean that Notre Dame is no longer the only "national" power?
