Everyone is dumping on Harbaugh and the OCs but the biggest disappointment last night to me was the play of the defense. He's been the DC for all of the losses this season and last (Iowa, OSU, MSU, PSU, FSU). Last year he had all that NFL talent and still couldn't shut down the offenses in last year's losses, especially when it mattered with the game on the line. Why? This season he has so many young players but 42 points and a billion yards to PSU? Our "elite" defense held MSU to 14 pts in a half (the other half being a monsoon) but IU held MSU to 17 points for the entire game in E. Lansing yesterday.
Bottom line is this is a rebuilding year and the team will persevere, improve and be a better team by year's end. Exciting times await, but unfortunately not this year. My approach to watching games this year (just as it was last night) is not to have any great expectations (or even expectations about winning), not to get too emotionally invested, and to simply enjoy watching the team I love.
