I wish he had because UM really went south with RR.

Thoughts on the whole Miles flirtations with UM? I am glad we have Harbaugh but I don't think what UM went through to get Harbaugh was worth it .

if JH can right the ship -- and he's demonstrated that he can -- it was worth some of the struggles. AT least those saying "let's try the spread offense" in the past won't. And it reinforces that defenses win games.

It also demonstrated that AD's can singlehandedly hurt programs. Hoke, yes he had a MAC coaching staff, wasn't done any favors by the AD. Following Bill Martin, UM choked on two hires (football coaching wise).

IF UM can win on Saturday it will be 10 seconds away from the playoffs. Now that my man is a turn around.

Yeah true Jim Harbaugh is great and a far better coach. I guess maybe the struggles were worth it to get JH rather than be stuck with a coach who would go 9-3 or 8-4 with a rare 10-2 forever than be terrible fire 2 coaches and bring us a coach like JH who will win at least 1 if not more NCs and compete with many iothers with 13-1/12-2/ 14-0 type seasons in the future.

Exactly, though if it was and we had gotten Miles, imagine the nice continuity of having him shepherd this program for 8-10 years. He would have been a great coach here, it's a shame we let the political elements within UM sink that possibility.

Miles is a great coach, but doesn't have a great reputation.

Not in 2007. Brandon probably could have gotten Harbaugh in 2011, but then again Brandon is an idiot and definitely would've rubbed Jim the wrong way.

A very important consideration when UM hires a permanent AD is getting somebody competent, of course, but also somebody that can work with Harbaugh. Brandon was neither of those things.
