I was reading a thread below about this site, and how it's less fun these days than it used to be before the RR years. I agree, it was more fun then, but a large part of that was it was a website for fans of what we thought was an indestructible culture of winning. Then RR broke every record of shame known to mankind and things began to unravel, but I digress ...
The part I found interesting was the comparison to Lloyd Carr's teams. I asked myself, do I feel as confident in JH's teams that 8 wins is a floor as I did with Lloyds. Hmmm. After careful consideration, I think I do. I know I've been disappointed because my expectations haven't been met in every way, but I'm pretty confident 8 wins year in and year out. So then I asked myself if I more confident in JH's teams to win championships. I have to answer, I don't know, probably not. But I don't think it's because JH won't recruit or coach as well or better, but I feel like the stakes are raised now. I feel like it's harder to win this league than it used to be. And the top teams outside the league seem better now.
Is that real, or does it just feel that way to me because we're not as relatively good talent-wise as we used to be?
