Losing Hill totally blows, but I still contend, depth is the biggest issue still facing JH. Offensive line, safety, DB, even RB and Dline, all positions that have significant drop offs with injury.
The impact of depth is felt in so many ways. With depth, in practice the competition is stronger, the whole iron on iron thing, through the year, kids get more rest when you can go deeper, and then of course injuries.
While getting one or two top rated guys is great, we need more 4* types. We need the average grade of our recruiting classes lifted by getting volume in that next level of talent. We are slowly working our way there, but a change in recruiting strategy, where time spent on the 5* kids is refocused to others would have a better return.
