I texted my friend when I saw the draws telling him that I thought that MSU was fortunate to draw overrated UCLA and BYU but that I do not see them beating Texas. He texted me back very angry that it was "unfair" that they should have to participate in the play-in game given that "they beat so many top teams down the stretch".
When I pointed out that they had a NET ranking of #70 in the country, he responded that "the NET ranking is a poor way to measure teams".
I told him that MSU may recently be playing beyond its body of work for the entire season, however, the NCAA must look at each team's body of work in order to seed teams.
Finally, I asked him, which ranking process would he prefer to be used by the NCAA:
KenPom: MSU #56
NET: MSU #70
RPI: MSU #93
Frankly, the spartans are LUCKY to even be in the NCAA Tournament. Period.
Here's hoping that they lose to UCLA to SHUT UP those guys.
