1. UM doesn't need satellite camps to recruit nor does OSU or PSU. It was a publicity stunt for UM although it's nice for the kids. Why swing for the fences on this issue when the conference as a whole doesn't really need satellite camps (those who will do it). Don't use up your favors on this issue especially when you are going to lose to those in the south and west.

2. Delaney represents the Big Ten athletic programs (presidents/coaches/AD's). I am sure most of these coaches don't want to be doing free work in the summer and I am sure he heard from these people about this issue. Delaney represents the Big Ten as a whole and not just UM.

3. What is the end game value if everyone is doing satellite camps? Does UM benefit from satellite camps? Not really. The best analogy would be a wealthy individual getting another tax write-off. Diminishing value.

4. Maybe Delaney is looking at the spring practice locations as a compromise which I do believe is something that most Big Ten coaches would support.

Delaney played some smart politics. He knew he was going to lose and gave the ole wink wink to the committee to push through the change while accepting the defeat :). Bigger fish to fry in the future.

Well done Mr. Delaney. Now figure out how to balance the divisions and have the NCAA disqualify Rutgers.

Right. Saying nothing ever was very shrewd of him.
I'm glad he is in our corner.

No. Just.... No.

So if banning the satellite camps is a good thing, then why is there so much negative feedback about it right now from HS players and coaches?

Ridiculous. Like Al Pacino said in Any Given Sunday, you fight for every inch. There are ways to do that and still be in position to be "owed" something. Delaney is a big tool and useless at what he does for players and fans. He is only useful for bank accounts.

he is a douche

Dude, the B1G voted IN FAVOR OF THIS. Then when it got voted down, instead of making the case for why camps are good for the high school athletes and his conference, he rolled over and played dead.

What the hell are you talking about RM? Don't you think Delaney should make the case for an issue the B1G was pushing? This is just an idiotic take.

What more is Delany supposed to do here? As you said, the B1G voted for it. The other conferences all have their opinions, and Delany could speak 365/24/7 on the issue and they likely wouldn't be swayed. If anything, they might become suspicious!!! "Hmmmmmmmmm ...... why exactly is the B1G Commissioner pushing so hard for this???"

There was a vote, it was a fair vote, the B1G was on the losing side. I personally see satellite camps as events that can be a win-win-win for big schools, small schools and players alike.

But our side was outvoted. It's over.

I expect Delaney to make the case for what is best for the B1G. He didn't do that. He basically said "yawn." He got owned by the ACC/SEC. It's not a good look.

If anything, the SEC and ACC were the ones doing the HARD PUSHING to get this rule passed. But of course we don't have to wonder why they pushed so hard for it. Saban and Co. needed to be able to have time to play golf during the summer and not worry about getting out worked by Harbaugh and friends. Which will still happen anyways cause, let's face, Harbaugh is a jackhammer.

Well, for one thing, his silence allowed a thick fog of know-nothing nonsense to build over the issue.

You know it's funny to hear some coaches zing the concept with a warped-driven perception of no benefits, then have their camps back them with "the coaches wouldn't want to spend their supposed expertise for free in the summer working the camps."

LOL. No one would be forced to do anything.

Talk now isn't worth much, no.

But silence before and silence post-vote are not the same things.

A rock sitting in his chair would have had as much to offer.

Jim Delaney: well-heeled Cave Man.

Go Blue. Always.
