Dear Wolverine Staff. I can't disagree with some of your 'picks'

on the best coaches at UM. Who can argue that Hutchins shouldn't be considered the best or the coaches of men's gymnastics, etc.

But choosing the best coach as of this date takes into account that Hutchins has had more time to build her program. Now to my choice that was basically overlooked although mentioned is Ronni Bernstein.

5 straight Big Ten championships. More importantly though is the fact that she is bringing in even more talented classes coming forward which should push UM into the top 10.

The other variable that your staff mentioned was what Hutchins has done in the Midwest for a sport which is dominated in the south and west. Just look at tennis :). That can't be very easy going up against western and southern schools.

The question then would be where was Hutchins in year 6-7 of her tenure. Probably pretty strong and I don't know exactly when the NCAA title was won...but probably somewhere within 10 years of her hire.

Lastly, Northwestern womens tennis was DOMINANT which was quite an achievement for a program with 1 BT title in womens tennis before Bernstein.

So I think when you talk great coaches at UM and factor in all the variables...Bernstein is overlooked. No, I am not related to her but do love tennis.
