Some of us could write a dissertation about what has happened on and off the field with UM and MSU since the second Harbaugh was hired.
I think it is as simple as can be, and I don't mean for this to sound little brotherish but it is true.
In college sports, the true blue bloods have a major, major advantage. Michigan never "lost" true blue blood status even in our darkest hours we were just "lost". MSU never gained true blue blood status and they never will.
While Harbaugh and staff deserve a boatload of credit, the reality is that the UM name brand allows for an opportunity for immediate bounce back when down and allows for an unparalleled opportunity to quickly put yourself at a certain level and stay at that level if good hirings and player personnel decisions are made.
That is exactly what has happened...on steroids and very fast.
It will be interesting to see how long MD can survive what is now three true powers within his own conference, rather than only having to fight OSU on and off the field.
