There are 2 options.

1) The culture has to change by allowing boosters to obtain certain types of elite athletes. By elite, that also includes being mentally elite. The holier-than-thou Michigan culture needs to remove its head from its a$$, and do things the way O$U and Clem$on does. Clem$on is the poster child for college football. The NCAA does not care how they achieve success. That’s obvious.

OR...

2) The culture needs to change by simply lowering our expectations. We have talented players, but they can be mental midgets from time to time. Get used to having games like this once or twice each year, before losing to The O$U.

The same schools that are consistently in the playoffs - just so happen to be the teams that have mentally elite players who look at playing football as their job. (I wonder why?) Mentally elite players are amazingly consistent. Crazy how that works. I find it hilarious when many of you ask questions like - “why don’t we have better corners in year 6 of the Harbaugh era?” ... Really? The best ones are already taken. That’s like asking, “why can we not convince the best players to come here - instead of getting paid to go to Clem$on or O$U, and not worry about anything except football?”

This is not the ideal culture for Jim Harbaugh to thrive in. Get rid of him if you want - I really don’t care at this point. But understand- NO ONE will come into this football program and become elite (and consistent) in the current state of this culture.

In our current culture, Michigan will beat MSU twice every three years. We can become Wisconsin - at best. But Wisconsin plays by the rules and loses to teams like Illinois, and they will never overcome O$U.

The culture needs to figure out what it wants. Follow the model by the elite programs that have a chance to win the playoffs, or lower your expectations. There is no middle ground.
