Could Chris Evans be better than Mike Weber this year?

I think that question is very legitimate. I think it is quite possible by year end.

Mike Weber was BigTen Freshman of the year in 2016

When I compare the 2016 performance of these two running backs, the key difference is that Weber got a lot more carries last year. Weber was also 24 lbs heavier / stronger last year.

However, when you give the willowy 188lb Chris Evans a full year in the S&C program he will be physically ready to carry a bigger load. He also enters the season as an apparent # 1 back. I think its quite possible that young Mr. Evens could give Weber a run for his money in the Big10. The performances of each team's OL's will have a lot to do with it.

2016 Statistics
Chris Evans: 88 carries - 7.0 Yds/Carry - 4 TD's - 22 Carries/TD - Long Run 57 Yds - 87 Yds Receiving - 14 Yds / Reception

Mike Weber: 182 Carries - 6.0 Yds/Carry - 9 TD - 20 Carries/TD - Long Run 52 Yds - 91 Yds Receiving - 4 Yds / Reception

When you compare their performances vs. common opponents Evans performance was equal or better than Weber in several cases. The key difference being that Weber just got more carries in those games.

Prediction: If they both stay healthy Chris Evans will have more Yds and more TD's
