Core 6 is a sham...

Or at least it is according to the Chicago area high school coach and the Big Ten university student-athlete I spoke with recently. The coach was involved with Core 6 for awhile and quit in disgust; the student-athlete was involved in Core 6 and is listed on the "Core 6 Athlete Commitment List" for his class on their website.

According to them....
  • Core 6 is a scam to generate revenue from kids who will never go on to get FBS scholarships by touting the development of kids they never developed. Recent examples include Miles Boykin and Clifton Garrett - each of whom was being heavily recruited and had major offers before they joined Core 6.
  • Core 6 then touts the top kids' offers in its recruitment of other kids, even though Core 6 never actually developed them. In fact, according to these guys, Core 6 can't point to a single guy it has developed into a FBS scholarship offeree - everyone on its "Core 6 Athlete Commitment List" already had FBS offers.

  • Core 6 is about getting as many local top rated kids as possible on its all-star teams and then telling other kids and parents that they can develop to star on those teams when they never actually do.
  • The teaching that Core 6 provides is subpar and below that offered at any decent high school in the area. In fact, Core 6's seeming disregard for fundamentals has made some kids worse and not better. A number of high school coaches have actually told kids they can compete with Core 6's 7on7 teams, but can't participate in their training program.
An Easter egg for those who read through this post to the end:
The coach told me he's "relieved" that Partridge's presence has increased and Singletary's decreased lately. He had some unkind words for Singletary's approach to the job to be quite honest.
