- Scoreboards were really clear and provided some interesting stats.
- Odd that they didn't have the Colorado game score posted more frequently rather than the final score from earlier in the week.
-No commercial countdown clock on the scoreboard like last year, instead the red hat guy, whose previous job was just standing on the field until play was redy to resume actually had to hold a digital sign of sorts which counted down the time until play would resume. Can't believe when not in use, he laid it down toward the back of the sideline. Someone is going to step on it. but come on, why can you just put the clock back on the scoreboard. I'm sure this guy is looking to be paid more since he actually has to do something now.
- Speaking of commercials and scoreboard, we noted Michigan ran 57 plays at one point during the 4th quarter. it was 3:02 pm on my phone with about 8 minutes to go in the game. I commented that we are due for a rash or commercial stoppages, because his game cannot finish before 3:25pm... The talking heads would have to make up the difference rather than showing a highlight or two ad then simply cutting away to the start of a 3:30 game. One thing is for sure, the new clock rules have reduced the number of plays, but not the number of commercial spots. On a hot day in the stands, I could have done without many of them.
-stadium looked great in basically a maize out.
On to the game.
I expressed some questions a few times during AUgust about the status of our kicking game. Punting is fine. Kickoffs seem to be fine... placekicking not so much. This could bite us sometime during the course of the season if it doesn't pick up. Our kicker has a leg, but also seems prone to kick hooking line drives more than the high arching straighter kick we saw with Moody. No time to panic, but this better get work out before the B1G Season starts.
Impressed by Hauserman #15.... Guy is a player and hitter. Clearly a welcome addition to the D.
ALso impressed by #12 Josh Wallace. Thought he made a great interception on a back shoulder throw, but the refs ruled incomplete. Would have like to seen that one closer. Looked like he caught it landed a foot down in bounds and then fell out of bounds... Replay from the stands was kind of quick.
Not concerned about M's OL.... JJ had time to throw and if D wants to crowd the line it will open passing lanes. JJ took advantage of it and probably could have more if we wanted to press it.
Not a big fan of the play calling when we were attempting to score from inside the 5 when we were ahead 30-0, especially the 4th down play... Why go quick... maybe at mid season but everytime we seemed to try an move fast, we messed things up.
Wilson has some good hands and nice speed.... that's all.
Was surprised we let the QB escape a few times, but I suspect Minter will get that resolved along with more pressure on the opponents QB from our edge rushers.
Like ECU's purple helmets... The purple was quite sunny in the sunlight.
It's early, but wasn't overly impressed by the band's halftime performance. A lot of new members, so they may not have had a lot of time to prctice anything really intricate. By my count only4 songs during halftime.
plenty of good things in the game and plenty of teachable moments for the coaches.
The worst part of seeing the game in person are the commercial breaks... I did mention it, but it still bugs me especially on a hot day.
On to UNLV.
