Guide to recruit high school basketball players in America for coaching staffs.
1. First figure out where your school stands in the pecking order in your conference and nationally.
2. What do you offer that your competitor can't offer.
3. Determine whether said player even cares about what distinguishes you in any way.
4. If no advantage and other school has same need and higher on pecking order please develop plan B.
5. If plan B is also valued by school higher in pecking order then develop plan C and so on.
6. If plan A is slightly better than plan B then offer plan B and take commitment if interested and so on.
7. Commitment is not binding until signed. Please have backup plan based on pecking order.
8. Be honest in assessing pecking order. Swallow pride. For instance...MSU higher on pecking order than UM.
9. If you are competing with schools in your range on the 'order' then come up with unique variable to sell.
10. A bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush. Develop said player.
Public service for all coaching staffs. This will reduce risk and save time and energy.
