Coaching...some frustrations

The performance, from the team and staff, was extremely disappointing. I'm not going to attack players, because things happen. Whats tough for me to excuse is the performance of this coaching staff.

1. The team was totally out-prepared, even though we had a bye week. I cannot understand how this is possible.

2. Knowing O'Korn was the starter, and having an extra week to throw some things in, I was shocked at how vanilla things were. I thought the play calling on the first drive was good, up until the final few plays. Which leads me to my next point.

3. When will the fades and go routes (with a short field) stop? On third down we throw a go/fade whatever you want to call it to Eddie McDoom? It's like throwing a fade to Crawford...oh, wait--I've seen that. I cannot, for the life of me, understand the obsession with these throws.

4. I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but has there been much discussion about Jim kicking the XP to make it 14-10? I could not believe he didn't go for 2. The storm was already right there, and the downside is minimal if you miss the 2 point. The upside is huge, because a FG would've tied it. I couldn't believe the decision at the time, given the weather situation, and it looked worse and worse as the game went on. Needing a TD (when we had the ball in the 4th q) seemed nearly impossible.

All this said, all of the goals for this team are still in front of them. I think we match up well with Wisconsin, and PSU will be tough but winnable. And I still like our chances against OSU, although the offense (or lack thereof) is becoming a concern.

I hope that this woke up this team and staff. Go Blue.
