It was good to see coach show some enthusiasm last night.
Credit to him for recognizing that it was lacking and being very intentional about expressing it. Camera caught several instances, including walks to the bench to give some atta boys.
The flip side of the coin that it came off as just that: very intentional . His vertical on the “no good - we’re still in this thing” dance after the Rutgers missed kick was about a foot lower than a Tom Allen version and arms did not get above the shoulders. (In fairness, Maybe that’s football injuries rearing their head)
He was dutifully executing the game plan of “60 minute of energy” - and again, tip of the cap for that - but the idea that his brain seemed to be processing moments and then sending the “get excited” signal rather than just being an unreasoning maniac made me a bit...for lack of a better word... sad.
Felt a bit like a fella in the ward who’s appreciative of McMurphy for trying to give us what we grew to love him for but realizing it’s just not there anymore.
