Caputo reinforces why he's stuck at the Oakland Press....

Mike Valenti uses the same logic - Michigan can't win....

Either they get:
1. Awesome recruiting class, in which case recruiting doesn't matter and Michigan fans are excited over nothing.
2. Mediocre recruiting class, in which case Michigan fans should be disappointed because they didn't get a top 10 class.

Either way, Michigan loses, if you believe these Sparties. Best to just ignore them.

Re: Mike Valenti uses the same logic - Michigan can't win....

Yep, and with their classes. Stars don't matter because Dantonio can coach 'em up. But if they get highly ranked guys, then stars DO matter.

However I'd contend it's similar in every fan base on the stars arguments.

He's not completely wrong: it's not a strong class. But it isn't Harbaugh's fault; he came into the situation too late to save it.

His team is going to be a little thin for the next couple of years until he can ramp up the recruiting.

How is the team going to be "a little thin for the next couple years"? Wasn't recruiting the one thing Hoke actually did well? I believe our last three recruting classes were all in the top 10 or so in the country. I maintain that Hoke had no idea on how to develop talent and utilize the talent appropriately. I'm of the belief that Harbaugh should be able to hit the ground running and improve the existing talent on the roster. I'm not expecting miracles this coming season but it would not surprise me if we won at least 8 games and see a step change improvement in our play.

these comments dont make sense. if you judge this class as bad because of the numbers, what could be done about that? most people making those comments assume everybody recruits 25 atheletes every year so harbaugh couldnt even fill his class. and more important tell me who flipped any recruits in the last week that were actually commited at the time to other schools?

weber wasnt, clark wasnt, harris wasnt, flipping recruits is very tough when you havent been recruiting them all year. you can pretty much count on harbaugh doing the same thing that saben, meyer and the other top coaches do. once they get a commit from a recruit they dont decommit.

"The disappointment of Wednesday was by no means a fatal blow to Harbaugh's program. That's not the point. Yet, let's not pretend it doesn't matter, either. In a sense it was Jim Harbaugh's first game.

And Michigan lost."

Sounds like this guy just has an axe to grind.

It's not uncommon for very good coaches to come in and turn a program around quickly. Look what Bill Snyder did when he returned to coach KSU. The year before the team was just plain bad under Prince....they fire Priince and Snyder comes in the next year and has instant success. If you have some good talent on the team a good coach can turn things around quickly. Like I said, nobody is expecting miracles but I think you will be surprised how much the players and culture can change in six months. Harbaugh took over a bad 49'ers team and had them in the playoffs the next year...how did he do that? He took over a horrible Stanford team that won 1 game the season before he arrived and two years later had them competing against the big boys in the PAC12. It is certainly not inconceivable that Harbaugh will have Michigan playing at a much higher level this coming year.

Caputo just can't let it go. He and Valenti's OBSESSION with...

UM is at an all time high. What a douchebag.
