So, Dantonio taking the safety when having to punt from their own 1 yard line while down 7-6...my God, that was an awful decision!
So they give up the safety...and trade a 1 point deficit for a 3 point deficit...in the hopes of what? Reversing field position, right? And then they kick the ball out of bounds. So instead of punting from the 1 and giving OSU the ball at roughly the MSU 40 yard line in a 1 point game, MSU hands OSU 2 points and then gives them the ball at midfield. So you traded 2 points for 10 yards of field position?
I’ll give credit where it’s due...Dantonio has an knack for dialing up trick plays and going against convention at the perfect time...but his decision today to take the safety absolutely contributed to the loss. When you have an offense that looks like that, how can you concede any points?
