Michigan conducted its first scrimmage this evening, which is by far the fiercest competition to date this camp.

Here is what we were able to gather from the scrimmage.

- Michigan has some soft tissue issues amongst the receivers at the moment, which is to be expected when things ramp up. Nothing to be concerned about but it did keep a handful of guys out on Saturday. Roman Wilson had himself a day with him being the main receiver.
- Was told that JJ looked good, not great. Tuttle had some limited reps at QB today, and Davis Warren had a good day taking advantage of the extra reps. Denegal showed flashes too.
- What I found interesting is that Michigan did a variety of different things with Alex Orji. I can’t talk about it because of sensitivity but it’s a thing they’re working with in camp. Can’t burn bridges but what I can say is that he ran well.
- Doman is the main punter and it looks like Louisville transfer James Turner is leading the kicker competition. Was told he had a great day.
- Defense was able to shut down the offensive run a lot tonight. Was told that first team defense stuffed the offense on multiple occasions.
- Offense is what we expected it to be, balanced and ran different situations.
- Nothing to report on first team OL, many guys were shuffled in and out consistently to get any type of feel.

That’s what I have for now. Will continue to ask around if I get anything specific.
