Here are tonight's Blue Chips...

*** My guest on this week's recruiting podcast will be three-star 2021 Fresno (Calif.) Central wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Now, temper your expectations, because Worthy is very soft spoken. However, I do get the sense that Michigan is trending back in the right direction. Worthy plans to have a serious discussion with his mother about recruiting this weekend and does not have a new commitment date. From talking to a program source, the vibe around Michigan is that the delay was a positive for the Wolverines. If I could, I would change my pick from Oregon to cloudy.

*** Michigan is also after Rivals250 Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy wide receiver Jayden Thomas. Not a lot to report here since my last update. I still feel like Michigan is at the very top of his list along with Notre Dame. Georgia will be tough to beat if they push (they aren't doing so right now). Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is in contact weekly, and the U-M baseball staff has been involved as well — Thomas wants to play both sports at the next level. Ideally, Thomas wants to make OVs and decide in December.

*** Key 2021 Naples (Fla.) Palmetto Ridge defensive back Kamonte Grimes released his Top 5 today. No surprise, Michigan made the cut. I recently put in a FutureCast pick for the Wolverines and still feel good about it. U-M has made him a top priority at cornerback throughout the dead period, and he feels comfortable with the staff and program. If Miami pushes, my pick would change. But as of right now, Michigan's biggest competition is Kentucky. And I'm not really worried about the Wolverines losing that battle.

*** Michigan is out of the running for four-star Lafayette (La.) Southside athlete Malik Nabers. He released a final two of Georgia and Mississippi State today. Michigan offered Nabers as a safety and was continuing to work on him. Daymon David and Titus Mokiao-Atimalala remain at the top of the board at that position.
