Here are tonight's Blue Chips:
*** Rivals100 Clarkston (Mich.) High offensive lineman Rocco Spindler has cut off communication with college coaches and is taking a hiatus before his decision. I'm not exactly sure when the hiatus will end, but I'm assuming it will be 24-48 hours before his decision, which is still set for Saturday afternoon. This one continues to be a Michigan vs. Notre Dame battle, and Spindler is analyzing both of his finalists carefully before announcing.
*** As of today, Spindler has yet to inform either staff of his decision. That likely won't come until right before Saturday if at all. Spindler has done a tremendous job of playing things extremely close to the vest while publicly pandering to audiences on both sides. I don't expect anyone to really know what Spindler is thinking until his hiatus comes to an end. Therefore, I wouldn't read too much into reports on either side this week.
*** There continues to be cautious optimism around Michigan, and a feeling that this is truly a 50/50 battle. That's nothing different than what I've been saying for a couple of weeks now. If I had to make a pick today, it would be Michigan, but only by the slimmest of margins. I actually put in my pick for the Wolverines last year and haven't wavered from it. As of today, I have no reason to come off of that pick.
