*** Rivals100 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy safety Keon Sabb has set his commitment date for July 17. Michigan has been working hard on Sabb over the last month and has made a ton of progress thanks to new safeties coach Ron Bellamy. I know those close to Sabb pretty well hence why I was the first to report that he was using an OV on Michigan last month. I haven't had any reason to feel optimistic about Sabb until today. I'm told that there is optimism on the Michigan and that Sabb is very much considering the Wolverines. He wanted to see how U-M did on the field this fall, but he loves the idea of being a face of the class and helping restore the tradition at U-M. He had a blast at U-M and has developed a tight bond with Bellamy in a really short period of time.

*** Now, I'm not saying Sabb is going to land at Michigan, but I do think there is a chance. As you guys know, I really didn't think so beforehand. Sabb has liked Michigan since he was a kid but has had five primary recruiters at Michigan since receiving an offer and four over the last year alone. The turnover hurt Michigan so much that it didn't even make his top schools list at the beginning of last month. You have to give Bellamy praise for just getting Michigan back in it. An X-factor here is five-star Michigan commit Will Johnson, who has been working hard on Sabb on a daily basis. In fact, Johnson reached out to Sabb today to recruit him. Sabb really liked the idea of teaming up with a fellow elite level recruit. I think Clemson is the safe bet if the Tigers take him, but there seems to be some moving parts there.

*** Speaking of Johnson, he is expected to be back on campus for the BBQ at the end of the month. Along with working on some top Michigan targets like Sabb, Johnson is getting ready for his senior season. Johnson is trying to stay away from interviews and things of that nature over the next month. He is working in the weight room with his team and also getting out on the field with his father, ex-Wolverine Deon Johnson, for more specialized defensive back work around three times a week. Speed has always been the knock on Johnson, but he is fast enough and is working with a speed coach three times a week to continue to improve in that area.

*** Four-star Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech defensive tackle Deone Walker released a Top 5 of Arizona State, Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky and Georgia today. I would say Michigan is the clear leader here with Georgia and Kentucky in the next tier and Arizona State and Missouri at the bottom. Walker has been intrigued by the idea of playing in the SEC, but I put in my pick in favor of Michigan early last month and still feel confident. Walker visited Michigan on multiple occasions last month and is expected back for the BBQ. He also happens to be good friends with Michigan commits Tay'Shawn Trent and Mario Eugenio. I'm told getting the green light from mom is the final step. I would expect Walker to put an end to things before the season starts.
