Here are tonight's Blue Chips...
*** Another day, another Drew Kendall update. As I mentioned a few days ago, Kendall had a positive call with head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive line coach Ed Warinner. The call centered more around Kendall's potential admission into the Ross School of Business. If Kendall gets in, I fully believe he will side with Michigan. Ultimately, I have reason to believe this is the biggest holdup in his recruitment. Kendall has been a Michigan lean for a while, and this is the final hurdle.
*** I know what Drew needs to do to get in. I also know the alternative option Michigan gave him. But I don't feel like it's right for me to openly report that at this time. What I can tell you is that there is a good chance Michigan and Kendall work this out and that the Rivals100 Boston (Mass.) Noble & Greenough offensive lineman gets into the business school now or at a later time. A lot of the current commits want to major in business, but only JJ McCarthy and Louis Hansen have gained immediate admission.
*** Kendall is going through the application process at Stanford. If he gets in, that may throw a new wrinkle into this recruitment. However, I'm told Kendall would prefer to not be that far away from home. From talking to a source in Boston this weekend, it's very likely that Kendall does get in. Boston College, as I've said over and over, remains a huge threat. It's close to home, his father went there and there is pressure for him to follow in his father's footsteps.
*** Obviously, Rocco Spindler is set to make his decision on August 8. That's one that Kendall is monitoring. But I don't think it's a deal breaker. Yes, the number of interior offensive linemen is being used against Michigan, but I don't think it's as big of a factor as the business school dilemma — at all. I still get the sense that Kendall wants to be at Michigan, and a source close to the program told me there is a feeling that he's close. Whether he makes a decision this month or not may depend on the admissions process.
