Here are tonight's Blue Chips...

*** Tis the season. With the early signing period just around the corner, recruits are starting to second guess their initial decisions. Despite the ongoing dead period, it seems prospects are comfortable looking elsewhere, especially if they are committed to a program in turmoil — hence Branden Jennings. The Rivals100 linebacker is an FSU legacy but backed out of his verbal pledge and is now trending to Michigan. As I posted earlier today, I have a pick in for Michigan and would be very surprised if he doesn't side with the Wolverines when he makes his decision tomorrow. The turnaround on this one was so fast.

*** Let's say Michigan does land Jennings tomorrow. That would go a long way with three-star Florida State commit Omarion Cooper. As I mentioned earlier today, Rivals does not allow reporters to put in flip picks, but if I could I would. I have strong reason to believe that Michigan has put itself in a position to steal Cooper from the Seminoles. Michigan has great relationships with Cooper and those around him, and Jennings would definitely recruit him to Ann Arbor. The two actually talk often. Corner recruiting appeared bleak this cycle, but Cooper and Ja'Den McBurrows would be a nice upside duo, especially with a loaded 2022 class waiting in the wings.

*** Let's play the if game again. If Michigan does land Jennings tomorrow, that doesn't not mean the Wolverines won't continue to pursue Indiana athlete pledge Maurice Freeman. I was originally told that the Freeman offer was for a general linebacker spot. After more evaluation, Michigan likes Freeman as a Viper/Jumbo Safety. A Jennings commitment would have no affect on Freeman. He is a take for the Wolverines at this time. How realistic is a flip? Well, Freeman has never visited, but he is not enrolling early, and there is definitely interest there. I think it's a very realistic flip situation.
